Music Village 1939

This project is a long-term urban regeneration project in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and aims to create a music village where music and culture coexist in Gapyeong Station, the site of the abandoned railway. In Gapyeong County, "Music Station 1939" was created through about three months of research and service to establish a name and brand that could symbolize the regeneration project at the completion ceremony in January 2019 in order to devise public plans and build a design that can symbolize it along with long-term land purchases. Music Station 1939 has the historicity of Gapyeong Station, which was opened as a transportation and gateway on July 25, 1939, and has the meaning of being a dynamic and open music-centered complex cultural space open to everyone. Starting with its first opening in January 2019, 1939 Music Station is now being visited by not only musicians but also by all people to enjoy tourism and music. In particular, it is becoming a representative music center complex in Korea because you can experience various performances, recording, festivals, audition projects, movie theaters, food, and music education.

Accordingly, in Gapyeong-gun, in line with the completion ceremony in January 2019, to establish a name and brand that can symbolize this regeneration project in advance, in order to construct a design that can symbolize the public plan along with long-term land purchase, about 3 months_ cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ 'Music Station 1939' was born through research and service. Music Station 1939 has the historicity of Gapyeong Station, which was opened as a transportation and gateway on July 25, 1939, and contains the meaning as a dynamic and open music-centered complex cultural space open to anyone. Starting with its first opening in January 2019, Music Station 1939 is now visited by not only musicians but also people to enjoy tourism and music. It is positioned as Korea's representative music center complex cultural space.

Naming and brand with historical and sensibility

It was derived as a brand that can harmonize with the future-oriented architecture with the historical and sensibility of the past Gapyeong Station, reflecting the purpose of the urban regeneration project at the core of the design of Music Station 1939. In addition, all the names were grouped and subdivided into “Music Station, T Station, S Station, Museville” to integrate and reclassify all the names and signs of each building located in the Music Village.

​Sign system with train station nostalgia

In order to capture the nostalgia of the train station in the past and the future-oriented design, the overall design direction of the sign was inspired by the train station traffic lights along with the retro-style brand. In particular, it contains the image of a train station traffic light in a form, but the biggest feature is that the sign position can be displayed in all directions, and it has the advantage that it can be easily assembled and added. In addition, it is designed to show the aesthetics of the landscape more comfortably by systematically applying public design to deliver accurate information without interfering with the movement of visitors and to arrange and size the minimum number of signs.
